BIBF 2015

The 22nd Beijing International Book Fair held from August 26 to 30, 2015 at the China International Exhibition Centre (New Venue) was proved to be a great success. 2,302 publishing houses from the mainland of China and 82 countries and regions attended the fair. Approximately 300,000 titles were on display, over 1,000 cultural events and seminars were held, and more than 260,000 visitors were present during the fair.

BIBF as an international pageant of the publishing industry, CSSP has invested a lot of manpower and material resources for the exhibition and featured more than a hundred kinds of books take part in the exhibition. During the Beijing International Book Fair, CSSP performed the signing cum Seminar with Springer Group and also attended various seminars and conferences.

As the focus of the Academic Publishing and Cultural Broadcast Strategy, the signing cum Seminar of “China insight” series was scheduled at the first day of BIBF. The vice chief editor Guo Yiwen of CSSP as the moderator presided over the ceremony. The president and chief editor of CSSP Zhao Jianying, the vice director of the Publishing Management Division of General Administration of press and publication Xu Zhengming, and the vice president general manager of Singapore Branch of Springer Nature publishing group Pan Wanhe (Harmen van Paradijs) made speeches at the ceremony. The meeting also invited a number of scholars including the author to participate in the discussion.

The Report on the Influence of Chinese Books in the World Libraries 2015 based on OCLC which was also released at the 22th BIBF at the second day, the quantity collection of books published by China Social Sciences Press was ranked No. 2 among 600 presses in China. The vice chief editor Guo Yiwen of CSSP attended the conference and accepted the award. The quantity collection of books by libraries overseas can be viewed as a test of ideological values and academic level of the Chinese publications representing the knowledge production situation of the Chinese presses. During 2014, 1314 titles published by China Social Sciences Press are collected by libraries overseas, while China Sciences Press holds the second place this year.

The editors and the colleagues of International Cooperation & Publishing Center from CSSP are actively involved in conferences and seminars during the BIBF, the BIBF provides a very good platform for us to know, to enhance mutual understanding, and to seek opportunities for cooperation with the Foreign presses.
