The Representatives of Springer visit CSSP

On 24 November 2015, the representatives of Springer, the editorial director of Humanities and social sciences Myriam Poort, the executive editor of the humanities and Social Sciences in China area Li Yan and the senior commissioning editor of Humanities and Social Sciences of Palgrave Mcmillan, global outreach Asia area Sara Crowley-Vigneau visited China Social Sciences Press. The president and chief editor Zhao Jianying, deputy chief editor Guo Yiwen and the Colleagues from the International cooperation and Publishing Centre participated in the talk. Mr. Zhao Jianying showed the warm welcomed to the Springer representatives, the two sides held talks on review of past cooperation, and discussed the future cooperation during the meeting. The representative of Springer also gave us a brief introduction to the newly established "Springer-Nature".

"China Insights" series is the focus of the CSSP, which is strongly supported by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and many other institutions, CSSP and Springer have co-published the English version of 5 of the "China Insights" series, with the publication in succession of the new Chinese version, we all express that the cooperation with Springer could also be successful as always. President and chief editor Zhao Jianying also expressed concern about the issue of cooperative books, especially the distribution of books in overseas, whether enter the mainstream sales channels or no, and whether there is a corresponding library and promotion, etc. The editorial director of Humanities and social sciences Myriam Poort also said she was very proud and happy to see the cooperation of the English version of "China Insights" series published so successful, with the addition of Mcmillan Palgrave, both parties can cooperate in the broader areas in the future.

Ms. Myriam Poort introduced the newly established "Springer-Nature", which is now the world's largest academic press, the new company is not only have a greater scale, more importantly, it had a series of brands and business all over the world. The senior commissioning editor of Humanities and Social Sciences of Palgrave Mcmillan, global outreach Asia area Sara Crowley-Vigneau also made a brief introduction to Mcmillan Palgrave and wanted to have the opportunity to cooperate with CSSP in the coming 2016. The executive editor of the humanities and Social Sciences in China area Li Yan summarizes the achievements of CSSP and Springer in recent years, with special reference to the successful launch of the English version of "China Insights" at the New York Book Fair this year.

Ms Guo Yiwen gave a brief introduction to the China Social Sciences Press. The president and chief editior Zhao Jianying put forward a few ideas on the further strengthen cooperation of both sides: The first is about the "China Insights" series, which is the focus of the CSSP, we are very attached to its overseas influence, hoping to promote the series by the influential platform of "Springer nature". Secondly, we want to put out the results of new progress in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences. The last is about the “the Chinese system" series which is planned by the president of CSSP, also hope to incorporate into the future cooperation with Springer. Ms. Myriam Poort expressed great interest to the new cooperation project, hoping to have the opportunity to have the further development in a wider range.
